Beskrivning: The stain uses an enhanced Periodic Acid-Schiff (PAS) method for detection of glycoprotein sugars. The supplied agent first oxidises the cis-diol sugar groups to aldehydes. The aldehyde groups react with the sensitive glycoprotein stain solution forming Schiff bonds and producing strong magenta colour bands. RAPIDstain™ can be used after glycoprotein staining to detect non-glycosylated proteins and the use of the stain enhances glycoprotein staining. Glutaraldehyd 25% i vattenlösning

Beskrivning: Glutaraldehyde is also referred to as glutaral, 1,5-pentanedione, potentiated acid glutaraldehyde, sonacide, and glutardialdehyde. Pure monomeric glutaraldehyde has an absorbance peak at 280 nm and the main impurity, possibly a polymer, has an absorbance peak at 235 nm. Upon analysis, this product is 25-28% by titration and has an A235/A280 ratio of not more than 0,5. Monomeric glutaraldehyde may be purified from polymeric glutaraldehyde by treatment with charcoal (5% w/v) and subsequent filtration (3-4 times). Untreated glutaraldehyde has an absorption at 235 nm that is 5 times greater than that at 280 nm, whereas, after three washings the values are about equal. Glutaraldehyde is a bifunctional cross-linking reagent, reacting with NH2 groups to form Schiff's bases.

Beskrivning: APTS is a very useful green fluorescent dye for labeling glycoproteins or sugar molecules in general. The labeling occurs via reductive amination which involves the formation of a Schiff base between the amine of APTS and the aldehyde or ketone of the sugar, followed by the reduction of the Schiff base linkage to a stable carbon-nitrogen bond. The multi-anionic nature of the dye makes it ideal for the studies of carbohydrate molecules by high resolution capillary electrophoresis.
