Anopore inorganic membranes without support ring, Whatman™
Filter Membranfilter
Whatman Anopore inorganic membranes, supplied as Anodisc membrane filters, are an aluminum oxide membrane with a honeycomb pore structure that facilitates highly precise filtration. Their transparency and surface retention enable efficient light or electron microscopy.

  • Virtually transparent when wet
  • Minimal autofluorescence
  • Hydrophilic with wide solvent compatibility
  • Non-toxic for cellular growth

The non-deformable, capillary pore structure has no lateral crossovers between individual pores. The inorganic membrane filters have high pore density and narrow pore size, allowing particles no larger than the specified size to pass through the filter.

Microorganisms and particulates are captured on the surface of the membrane for light microscopy or electron microscopy sample preparation so they can be examined without transferring to another surface. No monomers, plasticizers, adhesives, surfactants or wetting agents are used in the manufacturing process, which eliminates sample contamination and ensures low protein binding and minimal loss of sample.

The Anodisc membrane filters enable easier handling and are suitable for both vacuum and pressure filtration.

Whatman Anodisc membrane filters are available in a variety of pore sizes and membrane diameters and in format with and without support rings.

Anodisc membrane filters can also be used for liposome extrusion, HPLC mobile phase filtration and degassing, solvent cleaning, and gravimetric analysis.
