BJ5183 electroporation competent cells are a recombination proficient bacterial strain.
- 300% more recombinants with specialty competent cells
- Recombination proficient bacterial cell strain
- Infects dividing and non-dividing cells
These cells supply the components necessary to execute the recombination event between a transfer vector containing the gene of interest and a vector containing the adenoviral genome, provided that appropriate regions of homology are shared between the two vectors.
BJ5183 cells are usually cotransformed with a transfer vector (typically in linear form containing the gene of interest) and the supercoiled vector representing the adenoviral genome. A recombination event that takes place in the BJ5183 cells results in the production of supercoiled recombinant adenovirus plasmid DNA. It is important that the BJ5183 strain is used for this recombination step, as not all bacterial strains are capable of the supporting homologous recombination.
The AdEasy System saves you a month of work over traditional methods. It does so by producing the recombinant adenoviral plasmid by homologous recombination in E. coli. The AdEasy XL System includes BJ5183 cells pretransformed with the pAdEasy-1 plasmid. This feature dramatically decreases background caused by the nonrecombinant shuttle plasmid.
